Wesley Chapel, in Pasco County, has been one of Tampa Bay’s fastest growing communities during the past 10 years. Currently, there are over 45,000 residents, 16,000 households and 12,000 families in the area.

Many homeowners choose the Wesley Chapel because it offers easy access to I-75 and I-275. It is only 25 miles north of Downtown Tampa.


Wesley Chapel has some of Tampa’s most luxurious new communities, including The Ridge, Seven Oaks, Arbor Woods, Watergrass, Country Walk, Saddlebrook, Lexington Oaks, Terra Bella, Villages of Wesley Chapel, Meadow Pointe and more.

About 40% of residents have children under the age of 18 living with them, while 60% are married couples. Around 25% are non-families. Nearly 29% of Wesley Chapels residents are under 18, while 5% are 20 to 24. Over 33% are age 25 to 44 and 24% are 45 to 64. Those 65 years of age or older make up 9 percent of the population. The median age is about 35 years old.


Wesley Chapel used to be called Double Branch because it has twin creeks. Eventually it was named after the Methodist chapel that was located at the northwest corner of SR 54 and Boyette Road.


Two middle schools and two high schools serve the area. The two newest schools Dr. John Long Middle School and Wiregrass Ranch High School were built recently to accommodate the growth of the area. Many more schools are on the way to meet the demand. There are also many charter and private schools as viable options.

Pasco-Hernando State College’s newest campus, Porter Campus, is also locates at Wiregrass Ranch.

Shopping, Healthcare and Recreation

Cypress Creek Town Center is planning to open in October of 2015. The Shops at Wiregrass and The Grove are also well-known shopping spots in the area.

Wesley Chapel also has fairly new hospital, Florida Hospital at Wesley Chapel which is expanding their facility to meet the demand.

Also a well-known county park is located at the southwest corner of Boyette and Overpass roads. They offer acres and acres of recreational facilities which include basketball, soccer, football, baseball and more.

A $20 million dollar, 150,000-square-foot ice rink and sports complex broke ground in Wesley Chapel in early 2015. It is expected to open at the end of the year.

In addition to serving as the home rink for the Tampa Bay Lightening, there will be a multipurpose floor, so the facility can host indoor sporting events and high school graduations.
